According to Prosero, this is a strategic decision for both parties as an important step for Weckbacher's development and for Prosero's continued growth in Europe.
Weckbacher was founded in 1946 by Josef Weckbacher before being reorganised in 1992 by Michael Mainz and Dirk Rutenhofer. The two entrepreneurs significantly expanded the product range in the direction of integrated security solutions and made Weckbacher a nationally renowned name in the industry. Weckbacher offers advanced and complex security solutions to protect and add value to buildings and facilities. With a comprehensive service portfolio that covers electromechanical, mechanical and digital locking solutions and access control as well as CCTV, intruder alarm systems, safes and door automation, Weckbacher primarily secures commercial and public customers in segments such as industries, universities, hospitals, municipal utilities and other critical infrastructure throughout Germany and beyond.
The Dortmund-based company with seven locations in Germany and one in the Netherlands employs around 100 highly qualified staff. With this step, it is setting the course for Europewide cooperation as well as entrepreneurial continuity. For Prosero, the acquisition represents a significant expansion of its presence in Germany, which was established already in 2022. It marks an important milestone on its mission to market leadership in the European security technology sector.
"Weckbacher is so successful because we are who we are. We can also maintain this as part of Prosero. We see numerous advantages: For example, as part of a group that is successful throughout Europe, we will be able to be an even more attractive partner for our customers and employer for our employees. This applies to our existing team as well as to new, talented and experienced staff. At the same time as joining Prosero, we have realised a suitable internal succession plan. We are partially reorganising the firm’s senior leadership and will continue on our path of growth and internationalisation in the coming years under the umbrella of the Prosero family," explains Dirk Rutenhofer who will remain as Managing Director.
After more than 30 years as Managing Director, Michael Mainz is handing over his co-leadership role to Dennis Ochmann, the hitherto authorised signatory and Sales Director of Weckbacher. Mainz emphasises, "I would like to thank the team for their joint achievements and what we have accomplished so far. It makes me happy to know that the future of Weckbacher will continue successfully within the Prosero Group."
In addition to leadership continuity, the new Managing Director Dennis Ochmann emphasises the importance of the transfer of expertise within the Prosero Group. "By working together with other experts in the group, we will be able to offer our customers an even broader range of security solutions for their buildings in the future. I am particularly looking forward to this."
"Weckbacher will feel very much at home in the Prosero family," says Peter Feledy, Country manager Prosero Germany and COO Prosero Security Group. "Their considerable expertise in sophisticated technical security solutions and many years of innovation are exactly what we were looking for to further expand our successful group. Weckbacher is an important player in the German security technology landscape and will continue to develop strongly along this path. Weckbacher's significant market presence greatly expands our opportunities with customers and suppliers. We look forward to attracting many more great businesses in the DACH region that want to grow their businesses and benefit from the very specific and tangible benefits and synergies of being part of Prosero."
