ONSSI supports Axis Zipstream

Pearl River, NY (USA)

Axis’ Zipstream technology is now supported with Ocularis 5 from ONSSI, which the company maintains is a demonstration of its commitment to technology partnerships and support of technology innovation by leading industry manufacturers.

"ONSSI’s commitment to providing users with an open platform VMS solution is the impetus for our collaborations with industry pioneers like Axis,” said Ken LaMarca, VP of Sales and Marketing, ONSSI. “Axis’ Zipstream technology works together with Ocularis to deliver increased amounts of video, while using less storage and bandwidth. This collaboration helps us reach our goal of enhancing security system performance, reducing costs and improving the user experience.”

“A common challenge in security applications is the balance between preserving image quality and managing storage. Optimised for video surveillance, this new compression technology is a radically more efficient H.264 implementation that lowers bandwidth and storage requirements by an average of 50% or more allowing users to have the best of both,” said Alex Walthers, Manager of Axis’ Application Development Partner (ADP) Program. “ONSSI’s expertise in accommodating this technology through their Ocularis VMS complements our offerings and ability to deliver market-leading security systems.”

Ocularis 5 is based on a new recorder that accommodates a significantly higher number of cameras per recorder while maximizing HDD storage without the need for user configuration. It features automatic load balancing for managing recordings across system servers, which yields a significant increase, all while reducing storage costs. Ocularis now also allows for multiple different recorders to be combined under the same Base with centralized user and event management.

Ocularis is offered in three models: Professional, designed for organisations operating multiple locations with small to mid-sized camera counts; Enterprise, built for a wide range of mid to large IT-centric organisations; and Ultimate, created for large organisations with extended command and control needs and recording server failover.
