Salto offline readers integrate with Siemens Si Pass system

Oiartzun, Spain

Salto Systems announces that its Salto offline access control readers now integrate with Siemens' Si Pass integrated security management system
The combined Salto-Siemens solution offers customers the opportunity to control access to doors using the Salto range of powerful offline solutions – together with Siemens’ online access control system SiPass integrated – all with the same card. All the cardholder data for both systems is stored in the Si Pass integrated database and all events at all doors – both offline and online – appear in the Si Pass integrated event log.

Salto specialises in offline access control solutions, enabling users to integrate their physical security needs through networked standalone locks. According to the manufacturer a Salto offline system can manage an unlimited number of users and doors in a single system, securely controlling who has access to what, where and when at all times.

Si Pass integrated is said to be a powerful and almost infinitely flexible access control system that is designed to meet access control needs that range in complexity from medium to very high. It offers a wide range of advanced features including advanced card management, multimedia alarm handling, elevator management, a video surveillance user interface and complete event logging in a single system. At many sites Si Pass integrated is used as a security management station (SMS) that integrates access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance into a single system.

Designed to fit into a state-of-the-art IT environment, the modular structure and scalability of Si Pass integrated make it easy to adjust to keep pace with the changing needs of any organization. It supports a virtually unlimited number of cardholders and controllers to suit any facility size.

The partnership between Salto and Siemens to develop this innovative, integrated solution could mark the beginning of a new era in security management. Users of the integrated system will appreciate the fact that they can use the same card at all doors. Security managers can therefore remove key management problems from doors fitted with mechanical locks and keys. The information stored in the Salto card provides a precise audit trail for each lock within Si Pass integrated.
Marc Handels, Vice President Global Marketing for Salto Systems says, “This new alliance helps both companies cater to the growing demand for integrated security solutions. Combining Salto’s offline access control technology with Siemens’ Si Pass integrated online access control system enables us to provide end users with a tailored solution specifically designed for their security needs.”

“We are very pleased to be partnered with Salto, the market leader in offline access control,” comments Peter Grace, product manager for Si Pass integrated at Siemens. “With Salto’s help we have created a convenient, secure and cost-efficient solution for our customers’ interior doors. We expect this integration will be particularly attractive to institutions such as hospitals, universities, large corporations, and other organizations with large numbers of doors. They no longer have to choose between the cost-efficiency and convenience offered by Salto and the advantages offered by an advanced online access control system like Si Pass integrated. Now, they can truly have it all.”
