Members debut prototype OSSA standard cameras

San Ramon, Ca (USA)

At Ifsec 2019 next week, OSSA member companies, Anixter, Hanwha Techwin, Hisilicon Technology, Hunt Electronic and Vivotek will showcase the first prototype cameras based on OSSA’s commonly defined Technology Stack and OS.

The Open Security & Safety Alliance (OSSA) was formed in late 2018 to reduce market fragmentation and friction across the physical and cloud-based security markets. Founding members include Bosch Building Technologies, Hanwha Techwin, Milestone Systems, Pelco and Vivotek Inc. These technology leaders recognise the need to align, collaborate and gather others to progress and truly capitalize on the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Security and safety products must connect and interoperate. OSSA members have recognised that they need to step outside their brands and agree to design leveraging important commonalities to collectively evolve the market. Starting with a level playing field allows companies of varying sizes to contribute and aims to help all achieve an appealing and productive experience with security/safety systems, services and devices.

OSSA member companies are creating the first common Technology Stack specification and defining a common and vendor-agnostic operating system (OS) for the security and safety market. Together, these will fuel the development of value-added solutions as organisations focus more on imagining and innovating at the application level. This drive for unity first, differentiation second is what appeals to these forward-looking industry players and attracts them to the OSSA. The aims is that commitment to a common platform and an agreed-upon approach will propel the entire market forward.
