Huperlab virtual fence adds to campus security

Taipei, Taiwan

Due to events over recent years a heightened awareness for campus security from parents and education authorities has led to the elementary schools in Taipei requiring a more proactive approach beyond traditional surveillance measures. In one particular case, Huperlab's Intelligent Virtual Fence was installed at the Lanya Elementary School, and the news of this latest deployment was reported on the local TV channel news in early October 2015.

In terms of campus security, fence intrusion is always a major risk. Given the higher level of security offered by a Huperlab NVR surveillance system with Virtual Fence, the school installed 29 high-resolution IP cameras on the fence surrounding the campus. The IP cameras were set up in a cascade arrangement with a birds’ eye view to easily specify a detection line and with no blind spots. Once a stranger loiters around or attempts to climb across the fence, the system will send alerts to the security personnel and trigger an alarm to scare off the culprit at the same time. Also, the school further deployed their own fibre broadband infrastructure to ensure real-time surveillance video streaming and data retrieval for high reliability.

To better fit the applied scenario, the security can specify and set what size of moving objects to ignore and exclude from Virtual Fence detection, such as a ball being thrown out and over the fence or someone holding an umbrella at the side of the fence. In this way false alarm problems are substantially decreased.

The instant event notification is without compromise. With IOS/Android smart devices,  the Huper-Remote Ivewer/GvIewer with Push Event Notification constantly allows users to create alerts and take corresponding action at anytime. When an event occurs, the security personnel will receive the relevant Push Event Notification message to instantly verify the situation and view the event playback video with one click on his smartphone or tablet for efficient crisis management.

On the other hand, fence detection is also an essential part of general surveillance in campus applications. The school also applied the Huperlab Secure Zone Detection, Loitering Detection and Missing and Left Object Detection to secure target entries and areas as part of a comprehensive security solution.
