The new Javelin smart card readers are available with and without keypads and have a glossy black smartphone design.

The Javelin S874 Smartcard readers support high security contactless smart cards including Desfire EV1 and Mifare Plus. Also supported are the latest American government PIV and TWIC cards which make these card readers suitable for even the highest security requirements.

The door unlock period is adjustable for each Javelin card reader and can be user specific, allowing longer unlock time periods to be set for those with mobility difficulties or for doors in warehousing areas. An audible tone will sound if the door is held open beyond the allocated unlock period and an alarm will be raised on the security management system.

A multi-colour LED light bar and multi-tone audio provide visual and audio feedback when a smart card is presented. The card reader keypads are backlit so office light levels can be kept to a minimum outside normal working hours, and there are power saving options to reduce LED light levels by up to 65% in a “half sleep mode”.

To complete the environmentally friendly theme all packaging is fully recyclable and when the card reader reaches end of life all components of the reader itself are 100% recyclable

Simultaneously the S870 Proximity card readers have been released. Available with and without keypads they offer very similar features and are compatible with all HID 125KHz proximity cards.

Javelin card readers are compatible with the Symmetry range of access control and integrated security systems available from G4S Technology. Ideal for existing Symmetry customers looking to upgrade their hardware, the Javelin card reader range has been designed to utilise the same back plate as existing Symmetry card readers, enabling a hassle free upgrade.
