Etherwan wins Taiwan Excellence Award

Taipei, Taiwan

The Etherwan Systems Hardened 10/100-TX PoL/PoE Ethernet Extender over Copper Wires, ED3538, has received a Taiwan Excellence Award. Out of 1281 contestants, the product was considered to be outstanding due to Etherwan's assured R&D abilities.
Etherwan’s award-winning ED3538, Hardened 10/100-TX PoL/PoE Ethernet Extender over Copper Wires, is a pair of devices that apply Power over Link (PoL) technology, which provides long-distance a Power over Ethernet (PoE) solution. The PoL product line enables PoE ability by establishing a "link" between the two ends of a phone cable / coaxial cable, and using CAT5 cables to connect your network and PoE powered device. When a phone cable is used at an end-to-end distance of 300 metres, the receiving end has a guaranteed bandwidth of 100Mbps and guaranteed power of 30W across the link; when a coaxial cable is used at an end-to-end distance of 400 metres, the receiving end has a guaranteed bandwidth of 100Mbps and guaranteed power of 30W.

This innovative solution allows a network designer to connect any PoE powered device to an Ethernet network without supplying power at the end device location, without needing to consider distance, power, and cost of ownership.

When an application demands long-distance Ethernet packets delivery, this new Ethernet extender model can also be power supplied at both ends, to maximize the transmission distance to 2400 metres, breaking the traditional Ethernet barrier of 100 metres a lot more. When power at a remote location is an issue, PoL can be enabled to deliver Ethernet packets up to 1200 metres away.

Etherwan’s PoL Ethernet Extenders are designed to meet industrial specifications, capable of operating in high-temperature range, and suitable in extreme environments such as desert zones or Polar Regions. Etherwan has grown R&D experience in their products against shock, vibration, power surge, and high ESD.
