The security system is managed centrally through the new Center for Integrated Monitoring, where six to ten specially trained members of the municipal police force monitor the traffic and urban areas around the city. They report any suspicious activities, problems or traffic accidents to the police in the field or other public authorities for immediate action.
Each operator was specially trained to use the variety of Bosch solutions implemented at the center - including the keyboards and security software. The system includes Bosch CCTV cameras - AutoDome, high-resolution Dinion IP Cameras, and EnviroDomes - plus IP-based equipment such as VIDOS, Network Video Recorders and VIP encoders and decoders.
"This is one of the first such security systems to use VIP equipment," explains Frans Kemper, Director of Marketing for Bosch Security Systems' Latin American operation. "Public monitoring is hot here in Brazil - it's been associated with strong declines in the crime rates!"
The new security operation started with 20 cameras installed around the city. By the end of 2006 there will be 183, and by the end of 2007 there will be 270 cameras installed in Campinas.
