Canon has owned almost 87 percent of Axis Communications shares since 2015, when their attempts to buy out Axis from the Stockholm stock exchange market were hampered by Elliot Capital who bought 10 per cent of the shares. With more than 90 per cent of the shares Canon would succeed.
Since the acquisition of the majority stake in Axis Communications Canon has made clear that Axis and Canon shall sell and market their products independently of each other through their respective partners. Now, SecurityWorldHotel.com has received information from several sources that clearly indicates that Canon Europe will end their marketing and sales of security cameras in the EMEA region and that any distribution will be handled by Axis from the 1st of September.
If this is true, Axis, the world leading supplier of network cameras in the security market, will further strengthen its position as a supplier of security cameras in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
SecurityWorldHotel.com has been in contact with Björn Hallerborn, Corporate Communication Manager at Axis who neither confirms nor denies the statements.
”The only comment I can give is to say that we continue to see great opportunities in the market for network cameras. We are currently in discussions with Canon Europe and its partners in the EMEA market. Whatever the result of these discussions, we can tell you more about on the 1st of September”, he says.

In the interview, published as Web TV on SecurityWorldHotel.com, Julian talks about Canon's strategies to increase sales of security cameras. A transfer of product distribution to Axis in the EMEA market was not mentioned.
