Updated IP video surveillance solution

Saint-Laurent, Canada

Genetec, a pioneer in the physical security industry and a provider of world-class IP security solutions, announces the release of the most recent version of its advanced IP video surveillance solution, Omnicast 4.5.

Continually driving efforts to offer their customers more choice of compatible hardware and software, Genetec released version 4.5 with support for a variety of on-the-edge video analytic solutions like ObjectVideo technology as well as video devices with built-in analytics from partners like Bosch, Sony and Panasonic. Customers will also benefit from feature enhancements such as a password-protected video export and support for additional camera models and camera functionalities from manufacturers such as Axis, Arecont, IQinVision, JVC, March Networks, Panasonic, Pelco and Sony.

With Omnicast 4.5 now supporting ObjectVideo OnBoard using OV Ready, video analytics setup is simplified as the configuration of rules can now be done directly using the Omnicast client interface. Analytics events sent by the camera to Omnicast can be managed to make the system react based on their classification, i.e., motion detection, object removed, camera tampering, loitering, etc. Based on the type of event, the system can be programmed with specific actions, such as generating an alarm to a group of users, displaying the video to specific operators or providing a procedure for handling the particular event. These events are also stored by Omnicast and users can conduct after-the-fact investigations, searching based on type of event through Genetec's Archive Player.

Currently, the supported video units with ObjectVideo Ready capabilities are Pelco IXE20DN, IXE20C and a variety of LanAccess' onSafe models. Additional edge-analytics devices from Bosch, Sony and Panasonic are also supported in Omnicast 4.5 and events are processed and treated by Omnicast in the same manner. An added feature in Omnicast 4.5 is the password-protected video export which allows users to safely export video files with a custom encryption key. Ultimately, this new features ensures that only the recipient is able to view the file, using the same encryption key to decrypt the file.

Omnicast 4.5 now offers a full IQinVision extension, providing more functionality to the current integration. The new extension provides support for the entire IQinVision camera line including the IQcameo feature.

"Again, these new initiatives support our objective to continually expand our ecosystem of supported hardware," says Francis Lachance, Product Manager at Genetec for Omnicast. "There are a lot of innovative products on the market, and we want to make sure our customers have the choice to select any they see fit for their specific applications."
