Dahua launches dedicated commercial thermal camera

Shenzhen, China

The Dahua Lite series thermal camera, DH-TPC-BF2120, featuring night-vision, remote surveillance, and temperature detection will make its debut at Ifsec International on 20-22 June 2017 at London Excel, UK. This thermal mini hybrid camera is a powerful combination of cost-effective and intelligent functions, is marketed as the first thermal camera specifically designed for the commercial market.

Though an entry-level product in the Dahua thermal camera portfolio, the DH-TPC-BF2120’s numerous intelligent functions make it a one-stop solution for small and medium sized surveillance projects. Supporting the ONVIF Protocol, the DH-TPC-BF2120 is compatible with mainstream third-party VMS platforms on the market, such as Genetec (Security Center 5.6 GA), Milestone (Xprotect Corporate 2017 R1) as well as Dahua DSS (Dahua Security Software).

Thermal cameras, first deployed in the military field, have played a key role in wars. After years of research and development, infrared image processing technology and the craftsmanship of the detectors are becoming more proven, and the cost of the components is reducing, and now thermal imaging technology has entered into the industrial markets.

Until today, many thermal cameras in the industrial sector have been very bulky in size and above the affordable limit of most commercial projects. Dahua's entry-level thermal mini hybrid bullet camera – DH-TPC-BF2120, features mini dimensions, a dual-channel spectrum, and intelligent functions at an affordable price. Its installation is the same as a typical security surveillance camera.

The DH-TPC-BF2120 is mini-sized and also durable. It has a small housing design with external dimensions of 9.39" x 3.56" x 3.56". The ingress protection grade reaches up to IP67, which has strong environmental adaptability against water, dust and other contaminants.

It deploys Dahua’s advanced image analysis and intelligent algorithms for dual-channel spectrum with external infrared illumination. This camera combines one thermal camera for monitoring in total darkness and one optical Sony Starvis sensor built in to acquire high resolution colour images. It uses one IP address for networking connectivity. The mounted IR led illuminating is turned on at night to make sure no detail is missed in any lighting conditions.

In addition to basic functions such as ROI, IVS, PIP, image fusion etc, the DH-TPC-BF2120 supports multiple intelligent functions, meeting the demand of daily video surveillance, fire hazard warning and alarm message delivery. Fires are usually caught by imperceptible hidden flames, which are hard for general surveillance systems to detect. Utilising thermal imaging technology, the DH-TPC-BF2120 is able to discover hidden flames quickly and effectively. It precisely locates the fire allowing timely emergency response to nip the fire in the bud.

For perimeter protection applications, multiple DH-TPC-BF2120 thermal cameras can be utilised to form a perimeter intruder detection system, which performs as an invisible tripwire using thermal imaging technology. When installed at the recommended height of 5 metres and with an FOV of 56°×44°, one DH-TPC-BF2120 thermal camera covers a fence area of 29 metres long. Whether it is day or night, as long as someone enters into a targeted area, a warning will be sent to the control centre. It is truly an ideal choice for applications such as residential parks, industrial parks, gardens and large parking areas.

The thermal camera is ideal for early fire detection application. Large internal spaces where goods are stored present a fire hazard which is often difficult to detect for smoke sensors. Surveillance cameras, however high-resolution they are, cannot alone effectively detect the location and scale of the fire. Thanks to its thermal technology, the DH-TPC-BF2120 is an ideal device to guard such spaces like warehouses, exhibition halls, etc.

The company believes that the launch of the DH-TPC-BF2120 will increase the potential market space of thermal imaging, protecting the investment of Dahua customers.
