World Security Leaders to Speak at Intersec 2009

Dubai, UAE

Conference for security and safety to host leading speakers amidst cutting edge technology show.

Since the publishing of the EU Terrorism Situation and Trend Report TE-SAT 2007, it has become a matter of increasing global concern that terrorist organisations are consistently finding innovative ways to plan unconventional and undetectable attacks across the developed world. Aside from the multiple illegal avenues that home-grown and foreign terrorist organisations are using to raise funds for their opera¬tions as well, global supply chain protection, piracy and information security have become critical watch-points for governmental and domestic police and security agencies, worldwide.

Speaking on a wide range of topics at Intersec Trade Fair and Conference, from 18 to 20 January 2009 in Dubai, will be some of the world's industrial, academic and professional leaders. 'We always aim to get high profile speakers to the conference because we believe that in an atmosphere where you have a large global population witnessing the latest technologies and techniques in safety and security, it is critical that you have an information exchange that is meaningful and pertinent to the global security climate too,' says Angela Schierholz, senior show manager for Intersec 2009. 'To this end, we have Europol Director Max-Peter Ratzel and world renowned author and political analyst, Loretta Napoleoni speaking about terrorism and rogue financing at the conference. We also have Dr. Theodore Karasik, director of research and development at the Institute for Near East and Gulf Military Analysis who will speak about modern piracy and Peter French, Senior Visiting Fellow to the American University of Washington DC and appointed Lecturer on Counter Terrorism and Security to the US State Department.'

'We also have our share of national experts speaking on several topics from counter-terrorism, money laundering and global supply chain security to narcotics and oil and gas security. David Fairnie, director of security at DP World, Leutenant Colonel Ibrahim Al Hanai, Head of Abu Dhabi's Organized Crime Department and other experts from Dubai police and Aramco, Saudi Arabia are scheduled to speak at the conference.'

Held over 18th-20th January, 2009 at the Dubai International Conference and Exhibition Centre, Intersec Trade Fair and Conference, 2009 will also exhibit the latest technologies and apparatus in Commercial Security, Information Security, Homeland Security, Counter-Terrorism, Policing & Law Enforcement, Fire & Rescue and Health & Safety.

'The concept of international and domestic security in today's world has changed dramatically in the last decade,' asserts Angela Schierholz. 'It is no longer a case of simply purchasing the latest technologies or installing more surveillance cameras. Policing agencies, world experts and government officials all have to work together to share information and exchange best practices to combat threats from several new quarters. As a result, we have tried to keep every detail in mind for Intersec 2009 with a wide number of lectures planned and some of the latest technologies exhibited for protecting information, people and places.'

At Intersec Trade Fair and Conference 2009, exhibitors will demonstrate some of the most sophisticated devices, solutions and services including biometrics, data protection, surveillance, fire fighting, health and safety and counter-terrorism. Visitors can experience rescue and natural disaster protection in the popular outdoor demonstration areas. Information Security is a newly introduced area, where the focus will lie on going beyond encryption techniques and social engineering for safeguarding critical data and ensuring business and security continuity methods. The exhibition is also expected to be a hive of business activity.

'With the major target markets for Intersec 2008 denoted as Europe, the Americas, Brazil, Russia, India and China and with a recorded 90 percent of visitors directly involved with purchase decisions, we are confident that Intersec 2009 is the best place in the Middle East to strike business partnerships and forge new alliances in security, protection and safety provision,' says Angela Schierholz. 'Without a doubt, Intersec 2009 is one of the most important places to be for government and industry officials alike because making the world a safer place is everyone's top priority.'
