Safety design in buildings at Intersec

Dubai, U.A.E

For the very first time Intersec, taking place in January, will be introducing the Safety Design in Buildings Pavilion after supporting a successful series of SDiB Conferences within the GCC.

The Safety Design in Buildings Pavilion will be newly introduced at this next event from 17th-19th January 2016 within the Fire Section of the exhibition.

Fire in a building with inadequate fire protection features can present severe problems and create complexity in a fire fighting operation. This inevitably causes deficiency in the protection of occupants from fire and smoke during the egress or evacuation.

However UAE requires a Code of Practice that suits the local trend and concept as well as the firefighting operational needs. It is the policy of the Civil Defence to impose measures to minimize the risk of Fire and to ensure the Safety of life and property. The purpose of this code is to prescribe minimum guidelines for property owner, designers, consultants, Décor companies, Contractors, suppliers, installation and maintenance companies who are obliged to follow the minimum requirements of these codes and regulations.

With the evolution in architectural design, the aspects of safety in building design have also been brought up to date over the years. Today, the subject covers issues related to buildings with inadequate fire protection, fire egress and evacuation related issues, and other subjects of importance.

Of special interest to regulators as well as construction and safety professionals, these aspects will also be addressed at Intersec, at the Safety Design in Buildings conference, which is a platform for best practice dialogues between safety professionals of the construction industry and authorities.
