New safety standards introduced in Dubai

Dubai, UAE

The Head of Dubai Civil Defence claims that it will force every under-construction building in the emirate to use the same safety procedures currently implemented at the Burj Dubai - which will be the tallest building in the world when completed, according to 7DAYS.

Brigadier Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, director of Dubai Civil Defence, said recently that the safety procedures being used at the Burj Dubai were the best in the region. He added that a study of the building had been sent to the Executive Council so the safety procedures can be put in place in all new buildings being constructed.

"Most of the buildings in Dubai are tall and any fires in them are due to negligence of the storage of materials. The system in place at the Burj Dubai reduces any possible problems," he concluded.
