New camera from Panasonic

Berkus, UK

The new heavy duty WV-CW480 features an improved, highly reliable design that encompasses waterproof properties over IP66, anti-shock Auto Back Focus (ABF) and Super Dynamic III technology. The die cast aluminium body is covered with 3.5mm thick polycarbonate, combined with a spring mounted lens unit; the camera and the lens are heavily protected from any external shock it may encounter.

The new WV-CW480 Series is a camera equiped with Super Dynamic III and joins Panasonic's award winning vandal proof camera Series. In addition to a Day/Night feature, the camera is equipped with the newly developed Anti-shock Auto Back Focus (ABF) ensuring the ultimate in defocus proof surveillance around the clock. Its robust body with waterproof properties complies with IP66 standard and is fully equipped with intelligent surveillance performance and high image quality, including a 160x dynamic range.

The feature packed WV-CW480 includes a pixel based 160x dynamic range that ensures objects on every area of the screen are reproduced faithfully by area free natural contrast image correction that performs pixel based correction. Furthermore, 160x Dynamic Range is realised by shutter images of 1/50 seconds and 1/8,000 seconds. Even under changing contrast situations by time of day, weather and season, such as at ATM or building entrance installations, natural images close to human vision are provided.

For continuous 24 hour surveillance, the WV-CW480 Series automatically switches from colour to back and white and increases sensitivity when the surrounding area becomes dark. The minimum illumination needed is 1.5 lux (0.15fc)] in colour and 0.16 lux (0.016 fc) in B/W mode, with the standard smoke-coloured dome and in the morning, the operating mode automatically switched back to colour, allowing for complete surveillance both day and night.

For scene change detection, the camera senses various acts of tampering, such as spraying of the lens and covering of the camera with a cloth, by sending an alarm. The camera also offers the ability to double process the 2D DNR and 3D DNR to reduce unwanted images such as car headlights or lamp posts reflections.

The Auto Back Focus (ABF) feature ensures that when switching from colour imaging to black and white imaging, the back focus is adjusted by automatically adjusting the position of the CCD. This solves the defocusing caused by deviation of the IF filter on conventional cameras.

In addition, when switching from black and white to colour, automatic focus for 24 hours, day and night surveillance is realized as the CCD returns precisely to its original position.

The auto image stabilizing feature ensures that when the camera vibrates due to trains or large vehicles passing near by, the image vibrations are automatically reduced. The Digital motion detector enables the camera to transmit an alarm when the movement of an object on the screen is detected. You can also implement an automatically activated recording system using and optional digital disk recorder as well, if desired.
