Navtech Radar to speak at Intersec Dubai 2010
Dubai, UAE
"Navtech is using Intersec 2010 to launch our technology into the Middle East market and this is the first time our technology will be showcased at a Middle East Industry Show", says Jason Burger. "Radar is a fast emerging technology for outdoor security (and) surveillance applications and we have seen an increasing interest for the technology from the region over the past couple of years. I am therefore delighted that we have also been confirmed as a speaker at the Commercial Security Forum. I would like to add that the background to the presentation can be traced directly to a series of incidents in UK airports. The fact is that traditional perimeter solution with fences, CCTV cameras and sensors no longer keep the really determined people out. The latest case in point happened at 2.30 a.m. on 10th June 2009 when five environmental campaigners, wearing pinstriped suits and bowler hats, cut through the perimeter fence at London City Airport and formed a human wheel clamp around one of the airport's business jet fleet at the west end of the runway until the authorities arrived to remove them".
"This incident unfortunately highlights that traditional reliance upon physical barriers, security patrols and manned monitoring of CCTV is inadequate to counter the threat from a determined intruder, not only at international airports but also at the majority of critical national infrastructure sites", Jason Burger explains and continues. "During the presentation at Intersec we will provide insights into how security radar works and why this technology solution offers a unique capability to combat the threat from attempted perimeter incursion. We will give examples of suitable applications for radar technology showing the radar controlling: day/night PTZ cameras, thermal cameras, including a video of live incident footage".
Earlier this year, a report from IMS Research on the global market for intruder alarms*, predicted strong growth for the outdoor sensor market. According to the report, IMS expects a growth rate at CAGR of 8.2%, the total market for outdoor intrusion sensors is forecast to be worth USD 345 million by 2013.
The Intersec exhibition and conference combines a huge international profile with a strong regional impact. Over 17,200 visitors from 96 countries and over 700 exhibitors from 50 countries attended Intersec 2009. Intersec 2010 takes place at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Dubai in the UAE January 17-19 2010. The presentation will take place on Monday 18th January 11.45 - 12.30 at the Commercial Security Forum in Hall 2.
