Mountain View, California (USA)

LaserCard Corporation, a provider of identity (ID) solutions and services, today announced that it has joined the Smart Card Alliance. Through this initiative, LaserCard aims to enhance its collaboration with industry peers in delivering innovative, technology-inclusive solutions that meet the increasingly complex requirements of large-scale ID credential programs.

"The Smart Card Alliance is driving a new generation of products and solutions based on smart card technology and we are very pleased to be counted as a member," said Bob DeVincenzi, president and chief executive officer of LaserCard. "We look forward to sharing our expertise in incorporating multiple technologies on the same credential platform, and to exploring new opportunities and expanding our partnerships with fellow members of the Alliance."

As a member of the Smart Card Alliance, LaserCard will participate in education programs and conferences, industry councils and market research. The company joins some 200 other members representing leading companies in the financial services, computer, telecommunications, healthcare, and retail industries, as well as federal government agencies.

For its worldwide base of government and enterprise clients, LaserCard delivers customized combinations of technologies to flexibly meet a broad range of security, e-government and facilitation requirements. The company integrates technologies including optical memory, microprocessor chips, RFID tags, biometrics, security features, special materials and durable credential construction to provide maximum security for its customers.

Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance, said, "We look forward to LaserCard's contributions to the Alliance as we continue to develop new solutions for current and future ID card needs."

LaserCard currently partners with smart card industry leaders to supply hybrid credentials for major projects including the Saudi Arabian national ID programs, and for three state vehicle registration programs in India. LaserCard-based ID credentials are also deployed in national programs including the U.S. Permanent Resident Card ("Green Card"), the Italian Citizen and Foreign Resident ID Cards, the Costa Rica Foreign Resident Card, and the Angolan National ID Card.
