HID Global iNNOVATION award presented to Nedap

San Diego

Nedap has been awarded with second place for the 2006 iNNOVATION Award, organised by HID Global. Connect, the partnership arm of HID Global, a leading manufacturer in the access control industry announced the awards at the iNNOVATION 2006 conference in San Diego.
The iNNOVATION awards event was judged by AVISIAN Publishing's editorial team, headed by executive editor, and recognized industry veteran, Chris Corum. Each entry into the event was evaluated based on the various measures of innovation' using HID 13.56 MHz iCLASS® and 125 kHz proximity technologies as the development platforms.
Nedap achieved a second-Place with it s newest development: the Transition Booster . Nedap's Transition Booster, an in-vehicle reader transmitter device, allows a driver to use a standard building access credential, such as HID Prox and iCLASS cards, for vehicle access.
The main feature of the Transition-Booster unit is the ability to amplify the read range of an HID iCLASS 13.56 MHz credential or HID 125 kHz Prox card up to 10 meters (33 ft) to handsfree vehicle access. In addition the embedded Vehicle ID enables simultaneous identification of driver and vehicle.
The Transition booster supports ISO 14443 or 15693 compliant credentials, which can be placed in the Transition-Booster unit.
Additionally a separate ID (representing vehicle ID) is programmed in the Transition-Booster HID hardware. Once configured, the Transition-Booster allows a driver ID badge and embedded vehicle ID to be read from a distance up to 10 meters [33 feet] in combination with NEDAP TRANSIT readers.
The Transition Booster is specifically designed to be used in applications were long range identification of smart cards is required. The support of HID Prox technology allows for seamless
migration from existing Prox applications to versatile smart card technology like iCLASS, making the Transition-Booster the ideal augmentation to an existing or new HID installation.
