Baghdad Int'l zone store turns to facial biometrics

Baghdad, Iraq

The Four Seasons drug store, located in Harthiya in the International Zone in Baghadad, recently selected facial biometrics technology from Malaysian Fingertec to upgrade their time and attendance system and to better serve their clients.

Formerly known as the Green Zone, the 10-square-kilometre area is filled with facilities of the new Iraqi government and is also home to the U.S, British, Australian, and Egyptian embassies. The Four Seasons drug store’s strategic location makes it a supplier of medicinal drugs and cosmetic supplies, which are highly demanded in the International Zone.

Fingertec provides comprehensive solutions for the access control market and is known for its high-tech fingerprint technology where it aims to create new benchmarks in the biometrics industry. To further improve in the productivity and management and in order to provide the Iraqi market with the best service, the management of the Four Seasons drug store chose Fingertec devices for a time attendance system. The device selected for the installation was the Face ID 2, a biometrics device capable of facial and fingerprint recognition along with other verification methods such as passcodes and RFID cards.

The selection of the Face ID 2 was for the specific reason that it matched well with the operating procedures of Four Seasons. As part of the pharmaceutical industry, employees have to deal with various medical materials and products and they are required to wear the proper attire when dealing with such materials. The attire comprises of a head cover, gloves, and special clothing that can not only prevent contamination of the medical materials but also provide protection to the employees. As such the Face ID 2’s face verification function allows employees to clock in their attendance at the terminal without having to remove their gloves.

The device was installed by Ain Al Zulal, Fingertec’s leading distributor in Iraq, and has it also provided training to one of the staff members of the Four Seasons drug store who will be responsible for the time attendance system and its details. As with some previous installations by Ain Al Zulal, a special room has been allocated inside the store to record attendance, download, and print reports.
