Dahua provides solution in challenging environment

Pescara, Italy

In a joint effort with Videotrend s.r.l — Dahua's distributor in Italy, Dahua Technology and its megapixel solutions have been selected to secure the Pescara port in Italy.
Pescara harbour, an Italian port stretching along the Adriatic Coast in Pescara, is of significance for the trading and tourism around the region. The port covers a dock, a freight yard and a sea bridge, which is one of the biggest cyclo-pedestrian in Europe.

The complexities encountered in this case include the inclement weather and the high humidity in the region as these conditions could cause the erosion of devices and thus shorten their lifespan; also, the high temperatures and moisture may affect the smooth transmission of the IP stream during deployment and installation. In order to solve these challenges taking into account that the climate is an unalterable factor, Dahua, Videotrend and the local system integrator attempted to approach it from a different perspective — the structure. The system adopts a ring networking structure utilising optical fibre instead of a conventional star-topology structure; and to further guarantee an adequate bandwidth at 108Mbps for the cycling lane, the radio transmission system was configured at an access point with a dual band of 2.4/5.8GHz.

On the product front, Dahua 3- and 2 megapixel IR cameras (IPC-HFW3300P / IPC-HFW3200CP) and 2mp 20x speed domes (SD6982A / 6523H-HN) were deployed after a series of tests. Equipped with 3.3~12mm and 8~16mm, lenses these box cameras are able to bring a wide range scenario into the surveillance coverage. What’s more, with the help of high efficiency IR LEDs, these cameras are also able to render a superb night vision effect; and as for the back-end devices, the Dahua NVR, DH-SVR3016H, has been applied as it can satisfy the storage of large volume footage as well as its RAID function allowing it to manage and enhance the reliability and stability of the system.

“The previous problems have been well addressed by this solution, which, at the same time is quite flexible and convenient," said Pasquale Totaro, the CEO of Videotrend. “It has been almost over two years since the project was completed, and everything is still going well. The local officials are satisfied with this project as it not only helps to check on local citizens, but it also makes the whole surveillance system run smoothly."

“We appreciate our client’s trust and our partners’ efforts in this case, as we are refining our network product portfolio, more versatile products will be brought out to cater for different demands," said Elmer Zhang, Sales Director for Europe at Dahua Technology. “Take this port case for example, the speed domes installed on the bridge are IP66 rated, which can withstand the severe environment; and its accurate PTZ function helps very well with vehicle tracking. We are confident in providing solutions and products in various verticals as we have been actively involved in different projects and have accumulated valuable experience over recent years."
