Dahua adopts Theia 4K lenses on IP box cameras

Hangzhou, China

Theia’s 4K lenses offer resolution performance matching the image quality promised by the 4K sensor.

Dahua Technology is building in Theia’s 4K lens family on its IPC-HF81230E ultra HD box camera.

4K resolution is a revolutionary breakthrough in image processing technology. Dahua IPC-HF81230E ultra HD box camera delivers four times the resolution of standard HDTV 1080p cameras and offers superior picture quality and image details. 4K resolution considerably improves the clarity of magnified scenes, enabling the Dahua IPC-HF81230E ultra HD box camera to view or record crisp-clear forensic video from large areas. With the Sony advanced Starvis image sensor which increases the pixel size to 1.85 µm, Dahua IPC-HF81230E ultra HD box camera is capable of delivering 4K resolution video under low light environments. This makes the camera ideal for video surveillance applications that require low-illumination performance together with high definition.

Theia’s 4K lenses offer resolution performance matching the image quality promised by the 4K sensor and provide good coverage of the larger 1/1.7”4K images. The varifocal lens family covers a horizontal field of view from 112 to 9 degrees, with the SL410 4-10mm lens and SL1250 12-50mm lens. The lenses maintain 4K resolution in day and night conditions with less than 5 microns focus shift in near IR light. The lenses are extremely compact given their large format, at only 52mm long. Compared to other commonly found 1/1.7” format 4K lenses with similar features, they are much smaller, allowing them to fit into smaller enclosures.

At F/1.4 the SL410 boasts the fastest F number and potentially the best light gathering ability of any 4k 1/1.7” format varifocal lens in the surveillance market today. The CS mount lenses are available in manual, DC-auto versions; fully motorised, board and C mount versions are also available.

“When paired with Theia’s 4K lenses, Dahua’s IPC-HF81230E ultra HD box camera delivers very high image quality to enable analytics and applications requiring fine details,” says Mr. Daniel Chau, Dahua Overseas Marketing Director. “Combined with Dahua’s recording solution, these 4K cameras provide video surveillance professionals with probably the most advanced imaging technology available.”

As Mark Peterson, VP Advanced Technology, at Theia Technologies, LLC, explained, “We are excited to cooperate with Dahua. The emergence of 4K resolution in video surveillance will empower analytics-rich applications such as facial recognition, behavioural studies and ANPR, where a high level of detail and precision is required. The technology is also an obvious choice for situations in which there is a lot of activity or large areas where there are limited options for placing cameras yet the entire area needs covering such as in shopping centres, stadiums or open public spaces.”

To provide increasingly advanced products and solutions to its customers globally, Dahua will continuously invest in R&D and cooperation with world-class partners. With a mission of “Enabling a safer society and smarter living”, Dahua will continue to focus on “Innovation, Quality, and Service” to serve partners and customers around the world.
