CEM access system wins Nigerian Debt Management contract

Belfast, UK

The CEM AC2000 Lite security management system has been selected to secure the Debt Management Office, Nigeria. The installation will be carried out by CEM Approved Reseller, Acti-Tech Limited.
The Debt Management Office, Nigeria, was established in 2000 to co-ordinate and streamline the management of public debt in Nigeria, with a view to helping the country develop while reducing poverty.

The client required a high power access control solution which would be suitable for their office premises in the business district in the capital of Nigeria, Abuja. CEM’s AC2000 Lite security management system represented the perfect solution.

“A particular requirement of the Debt Management Office was to have a means of monitoring staff attendance, entry and exit times, so as to improve effectiveness and productivity.” said Nosa Odiase, Sales & Marketing Manager, Acti-Tech. “The client was impressed that biometric verification using CEM’s S610f fingerprint readers would guarantee full-proof time & attendance monitoring of all staff,” Mr. Odiase continued.

The AC2000 Lite system offers a full range of applications including time and attendance reporting, visitor management, display of alarms and events and much more. The S610f is an intelligent IP card reader, controller and biometric solution in one integrated device and offers three levels of security – card, PIN and biometric. The S610f has an internal database which provides full off-line card and biometric validation and features a graphical LCD screen which displays meaningful messages such as ‘place finger’, ‘wrong time zone’ and ‘access granted’.

To secure the entrance into the DMO office, the client opted to install the CEM eDCM 300 (Ethernet door control module). The eDCM 300 is a low cost two-door controller designed to interface third party readers to the AC2000 system. Like the S610f, the eDCM 300 features a large internal database for offline card validation.

The installation at the Debt Management Office will also utilise CEM’s leading Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) solution. The DIU 230 PoE+ door interface unit uses CEM technology to reliably deliver power and communications to the door via a single Ethernet cable. The DIU 230 offers project cost savings by reducing the amount of cabling required on site as it powers both CEM readers & heavy duty maglocks via one Ethernet cable.

“The rich features of the AC2000 Lite system were a key decision factor for the Debt Management Office. It was also important for the client that whatever system they selected could be expanded in the future, and the AC2000 Lite met this requirement,” said Andrew Fulton, Business Development Director, CEM Systems. “The Debt Management Office in Nigeria is one of many recent Finance industry wins for CEM Systems and represents a growing trend for CEM in the sector and the African market.”
