Brits Targeted USD 1 billion Middle East Market

The UK mount edthe first ever country pavilion at the recent Airport, Port and Transport Security Middle East (APTS ME) 2006 - the region´s only integrated conference and exhibition focussed exclusively on key challenges facing airport, port and transport terminals.

Leading British security companies displayed state-of-art devices, cutting-edge technologies and the latest training systems. These included Hansard Security Services, Sensor Electronics Ltd., Free Track Marine, Secure Risks, Expamet, ACR Gulf, Wavelet, E-Surveillance, Detector Technologies, Sigma Group and International Risk Control.
"We supported APTS last year and benefited hugely from it," said pavilion organiser Jason Castellino from the International Mass Transport Group, UK Trade & Investment - a government organisation supporting British companies doing business internationally and overseas enterprises seeking to set up or expand in the UK
"So we have increased our involvement this year and our aim is to network with key companies from the Middle East's transport and security industry."
APTS ME was held at the Grand Hyatt Dubai from April 3 - 4 and will bring together leading regional and international security experts to discuss latest developments in Middle East border and transport security.

"Interest from UK companies has exceeded our expectations and the presence of the first UK Pavilion will provide them with a direct route to the lucrative Middle East security market, which according to current industry estimates is worth US$ 1 billion," said Michael Costain, Event Manager, International Business Events, organiser of APTS ME.

This year APTS has a dedicated Supply Chain Conference stream in addition to its aviation and maritime conferences. The event will be hosted by the Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and is under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation, Dubai and Chairman, Emirates Group.

The confex, this year, has the official support of leading industry associations and government bodies including Bahrain International Airport, Sharjah International Airport and Fujairah Airport.

APTS ME is also supported by DP World, Emirates, Dubai Shipping Agents Association, Arab Air Carriers Organisation and UK Trade & Investment
