Assa Abloy and Siemens harmonise solution

London, UK

At the head office of global testing systems supplier WEETECH, an upgrade to the access control system combines Assa Abloy's Aperio technology with Siemens Sipass security.
WEETECH is a global company with offices in over 20 countries. Its goal was simple: to enhance security at its 70-employee headquarters by installing a modern electronic access control system. Why? To eliminate an unwieldy number of keys, to increase the transparency of employee activity, and to save on administration costs.

There was one important proviso: any new technology must work seamlessly with the installed Siemens Sipass access control system. The answer was provided with the Aperio by Assa Abloy.

“Aperio is a very cost-effective solution as no wiring needs to be installed on or near the door,” says Eberhardt Urban, CEO WEETECH GmbH.

Assa Abloy installed new Aperio electronic cylinders to WEETECH’s secure doors, replacing existing mechanical locks without expensive or time-consuming modifications. These were linked to the Sipass system online by radio, providing WEETECH with system access control in real time.

“Aperio technology is quick and easy to install and put into operation,” says Uwe Karle at Siemens Würzburg. “Configuration is completed very quickly and with no complications.”

Available on the global market place, Assa Abloy’s Aperio technology now enables a wide range of access control providers to cost-effectively integrate non-wired doors with mechanical locks into access control systems.
