Ansell showcases range of hand protection at Intersec

Dubai, UAE

Ansell Healthcare, a global leader in protective gloves for all industrial sectors, including building & construction, automotive, metal works, pharmaceuticals and food-service industries, will be showcasing its large portfolio of safety and hand protection solutions at Intersec Middle East in Dubai from 18 to 20 January 2009.

Two innovations will be introduced in the Middle-East region: the PowerFlex 80-658 extreme cut-resistant glove and the HyFlex 11-435, the first cut resistant level 5 glove made with water-based polyurethane (PU).

Alarmed by the growing number of occupational accidents, different countries within the Middle East region announced earlier this week at the International Risk Conference (IRCON) in Dubai that they are considering new health and safety standards to create a healthy work environment.

Sharing this concern, Ansell is participating for the second time in Intersec considering the trade fair as an unmatched platform to promote a higher awareness for occupational safety and to demonstrate the company's recognized expertise in hand and arm protection. "As a specialist in barrier protection and knowing that research indicates that a majority of workers do not wear gloves while performing their job and are consequently exposed to serious injuries, we consider it our duty to inform and educate the industry about adopting new safety and protection habits", says Werner Heintz, sr vice president Ansell Healthcare and regional director Ansell Healthcare EMEA.

On display at the Ansell booth will be the company's most recent innovations designed to address specific occupational safety hazards. Next to the introduction of the PowerFlex 80-658 extreme cut-resistant glove and the HyFlex 11-435, the first cut resistant level 5 glove made with water-based polyurethane (PU), Ansell is also presenting its targeted solutions package, aimed at the construction industry, including a wide range of gloves for the most diverse applications or exposure risks. Dexterity, adequate protection against cuts and abrasion, and good grip are key requirements for many building and construction workers. There are also gloves that protect against chemicals because the hands of bricklayers, roofers, plasterers or tile setters come into contact with alkaline concrete or solvent-based sprays.
