The Chiayi 2018 Lantern Festival that hosted and organized by the Chiayi Government to showcase versatile lanterns at venue covering more than 50 hectares of landscape that presents the sign (Dog) of the year with theme visions which will represent Chiayi and the land of Taiwan. The 2018 Lantern Festival Brings together tourism, technology, culture and art to manifest renewed traditions and creativity as a ground-breaking "smart" event.

For the vision of the grand event this year, the organizer adapted the latest developments from both Vivotek and Geovision.  Vivotek has sponsored the event with their very new 180-degree panoramic network cameras, MS9390-HV and MS8392-EV, as well as their 3D stereo people counting network camera(SC8131).  There are four (4) 180° panoramic cameras installed at high poles to provide real time panoramic scene at 24/7 at the control room of the County Government.  The Vivotek SC8131 3D stereo people counting network camera to be applied at the National Palace Museum Hall at the Festival. There are 2 SC8131 installed that one at the entrance and another at the exit of the hall to calculate visitors in to the hall real-time with 98%+ accuracy.

Geovision sponsors the event with their GV-VR360 Virtual Reality Network Camera.  The GV-VR360 features dual lenses record the entire world around you. It creates interactive 360° video in 4K quality and supports real-time VR 360 degree live video streaming sharing on Youtube. With Intelligent IR design, the AE and IR LED brightness perform gracefully together to get best image quality. It supports build-in mic with water resistance. (IP67 certified).  There are 4 theme parks of the Festival installed the GV-VR360 to upstream live scenes at all time; senior visitors can sit at VR experiencing booths of the event to view live activities happening at these theme lantern parks with VR glasses.

2018 Taiwan (Chiayi) Lantern Festival is situated at a 50-hectares area from the county government square, Taizi Boulevard, to the Southern Branch of National Palace Museum) where can take 1.5 hrs via high speed railway (HSR) from Taipei to Chiayi station, and take 10 minute ride (by taxi or bus) from the station to the site.
