Viakoo checks CCTV password vulnerabilities

Las Vegas, Nv (USA)

Viakoo used the ISC West event last week as a platform to debut the company's new Password Checker.  It is an automated solution that verifies network cameras are not using default or commonly used passwords, which are a proven network vulnerability for cyber attacks.

Additionally, Password Checker helps ensure compliance to many standards, including PCI, NERC, NIST, etc., which require that surveillance networks can not be compromised.

“Viakoo’s new Password Checker complements our portfolio of proactive automated data verification solutions by easily verifying the integrity of network cameras’ password protection,” said Viakoo, CEO, Bud Broomhead. “It is a highly efficient and cost-effective solution to harden physical security systems from cyber attacks.”

Viakoo Password Checker (as part of the Viakoo Predictive solution) examines HTML authentication points to test a variety of common URL entry points and frequently used passwords. Test results are reported for each camera on the network to alert system operators if they need to change some or all easily compromised passwords. Viakoo Password Checker can be run on-demand or on a scheduled basis.

Viakoo is offering qualified users the opportunity to beta test Password Checker.
