Tyco Fire & Security acquires Retail Expert, Inc.

Tyco Fire & Security announces its acquisition of Retail Expert, Inc., a retail data analytics firm based in Boston, for $14 million. The acquisition of Retail Expert further strengthens and broadens the segment's existing retail loss prevention and management offerings, which are sold by ADT Security Services and Tyco business partners around the world.

Founded in 1996, Retail Expert is a privately owned company offering software and services to retailers to enhance operational performance by collecting and analyzing data that can help limit losses and improve overall efficiency. The company's software
solutions in the areas of loss prevention, vendor management, refund management, pharmacy inventory and shortage, case management and inventory control will expand ADT's existing retail offerings that consist of loss prevention and security technologies.

George Oliver, president of Tyco Safety Products, says: "We have been the leader in retail loss prevention and management technology for many years, with more than 80 percent of the top 100 retailers worldwide using Tyco Fire & Security products. Adding these layers of business intelligence application products and services from Retail Expert will allow us to offer a comprehensive retail management solution to further bridge the convergence between security and information systems technologies."

Retail Expert's flagship software product NaviStor helps retailers collect data on key performance indicators throughout the entire organization and then use that information to make operational improvements limiting losses and increasing performance. Retail
Expert clients include more than 30 of the top U.S. retail companies.

Tyco Fire & Security's acquisition of Retail Expert has benefits for both companies, according to Garrett Knight, current chief executive officer of Retail Expert, Inc. "ADT and other global Tyco business partners can offer their retail customers an expanded portfolio of management solutions that build upon current offerings, while Retail Expert will now have access to a global customer base and to greater resources for research and development and accelerated time to market."

Retail Expert will continue to operate out of its Boston offices, providing customers with service and support. Effective immediately, Knight has assumed the role of vice president, research and development for retail business intelligence operations at Tyco Fire & Security.
