Siqura IP PTZ dome security camera wins NPS award

Gouda, The Netherlands

The Siqura HSD626 IP PTZ dome security camera has been awarded best IP camera in video surveillance at the ISC West 2011 trade show by the New Product Showcase awards panel (NPS).
NPS is an awards programme established by the Security Industry Association to recognise innovative products, services, and solutions in electronic physical security. Technologies showcased through this programme are used in the protection of life and property in residential, commercial, and institutional settings.

NPS selected the Siqura HSD626 IP PTZ security camera due to its fibre optic connector option, the integration of the Siqura Camera Health Check, and its capability for quad-streaming. The HSD626 is part of Siqura’s direct-to-fibre camera line, which consists of three cameras, each optimised for its application, with an indoor and two outdoor high-speed (HSD) dome models.

Due to the reliable and secure nature of fibre optic networks, Siqura is now offering its IP PTZ dome security cameras with a plug-and-play fiber optic connector option. This feature simplifies the setup, maintenance, and appearance of new and retrofit camera installations where a fibre network is utilised to overcome long-distance limitations.

In an effort to combat potential pitfalls, Siqura integrated the Siqura Camera Health Check into its direct-to-fibre security cameras. The Camera Health Check is a programme that guarantees the availability of quality video material. It continually assesses the status or well-being of the security camera by monitoring the camera’s position and image quality. When something is amiss, the application triggers an alarm to promptly alert operators. This, in turn, provides a proactive approach towards system maintenance, potentially reducing the unnecessary costs generally associated with scheduled upkeep.

Each direct-to-fibre camera is capable of quad-streaming, supporting dual H.264 streams in addition to two highly configurable MPEG-2, MPEG-4, or MJPEG encoders. This flexibility in compression standards makes it easy for these Siqura cameras to offer the best quality video while at the same time streamlining network performance. Moreover, it advantageously facilitates a wide range of migration paths within IP networks.

All the Siqura cameras are designed to comply with worldwide adopted standards and are tested with leading VMS vendors. This makes it possible to easily integrate Siqura security cameras into third-party systems. Furthermore, the new Siqura IP PTZ camera line comes with an easy-to-use, access-controlled, Web-based user interface, allowing users to configure or view video streams from a PC or even via handheld devices, such the Siqura Multifunction Monitor.

Since surveillance conditions can vary widely even for just one camera, this Siqura IP PTZ camera series also includes a day/night (IR-cut) filter and backlight compensation as standard features that can be applied manually or automatically when lighting conditions require it. The wide dynamic range functionality ensures excellent video quality, even in the most difficult circumstances.
