Organisers cancel Intersec 2021

Dubai, U.A.E

Following a confident release earlier this month that organisers Messe Frankfurt were still fully committed to the Intersec show going ahead in January 2021, show director Alexandria Robinson has issued a new announcement cancelling the 2021 event, but with the assurance that the show will be back in full force for 2022.

The pandemic has already seen many casualties throughout the security industry exhibitions calendar, with the cancellation of many other physical security industry events throughout 2020, including other major shows such as Ifsec, ISC West, Essen, ISC East and Messe Frankfurt's sister event, Intersec Saudi Arabia.

In a statement addressed to industry partners, Alexandria Robinson, Show Director, Intersec, expressed, on a positive note, that they had been lucky to be able to hold the 2020 show before the pandemic escalated.  The announcement continues with the explanation that following extensive discussion with stakeholders, participants and partners Messe Frankfurt have taken the decision to move Intersec 2021 to January 2022.

However, the organisers are continuing with a proactive approach with an emphasis on their digital presence within the security market. "We know we have a vital role to play in connecting the industry to foster much needed discussion, sharing essential information and providing practical and useful advice to those in our community."  There has already been a series of intersec webinars hosted by Messe Frankfurt in recent months, which Alexandria Robinson says have been well attended and respected for their content. "We will continue to create digital platforms to connect our 122,000 business contacts globally." she confirms.

"The intersec team is currently working on a new digital/virtual event concept which will engage industry leaders, regulators, government agencies and opinion formers early in 2021. We might be restricted physically, but we are excited by the scope that digital provides,"  says Alexandria and confirms that further plans will be revealed in the coming weeks.
