New General Managers at Protection 1

Protection 1, the largest full-service business and home security company in the U.S., has appointed no less than five new General Managers across its regions.  This follows the appointment of the new general managers for Denver and Albuquerque, back in October and September respectively.

Mark Acosta has been promoted to General Manager of the Visalia branch office.  He will report to Regional Vice President Ed Rickard.  Acosta started his career in the security industry 25 years ago and has been with Protection 1 in a variety of roles for the past 17 years. Acosta’s first position in the security industry was a central station alarm monitor for a small local alarm company.  He moved from there into management and became the Assistant Central Station Manager.  When that company was acquired by Protection 1 in 1997, he became part of the Protection 1 team.  He has since held positions as a service technician, residential sales consultant, operations supervisor, and service supervisor for the Phoenix branch.

William "Bill” Henry has joined the Company as General Manager for its Orlando branch office.  Henry brings more than 28 years’ experience in the industry with him for his new role.  During his distinguished career, he has served as Operations Manager for Rollins Protective Services for over seven years, Regional Operations Manager for Westinghouse Security for two years, General Manager for Edison Security, formally Westec Security for seven years and Director of Security Holdings for Universal Security and Investigations Group.

While at Westec Security, Henry was responsible for the production and quality of over 200 employees across 12 locations. He worked with his team to meet and exceed goals with over 1,200 monthly installations for residential and light commercial customers. At Universal Security, Henry worked with both start-up and established companies, turning them into profitable organisations through acquisitions and contractual work. He maintained ownership of all aspects of operations, including human resource requirements, sales, budgeting, and inventory control. Henry also has experience meeting the demands of both residential and commercial customers and is knowledgeable with intrusion, fire, video, and access control systems.

Chain Swain has joined the company's management team as General Manager for the Cleveland and Columbus markets.  Swain will report to Regional Vice President Jim Metz in his new role. Swain has been in the security and sales industries for more than 15 years and has worked for companies like ADT, Argus Security Technologies Inc., and Smartview Electronics Inc. His experience ranges from commercial sales and installation manager to executive sales trainer, senior vice president of sales, and regional general manager.  Swain also owned and operated his own company as a manufacturer and distributor of security products including video, IP and HD cameras and DVRs.

Swain began his career in the security industry as a commercial sales and installation manager for ADT where he was responsible for the quality and production of all account types including national and government customers.  He quickly progressed to regional general manager and was responsible for the top six largest branches with 235 employees. He successfully worked with his team to meet and exceed goals including budgeting, financial reporting, P&L, sales, installation, service, and customer retention.

Stephen Russell has been appointed to the position of General Manager for its Oklahoma City branch office.  Russell has more than 10 years of experience in the security industry, holding positions in both sales and operations. His career also encompasses 20 years of leadership experience including roles as a General Manager, District Operations Manager and District Sales Manager. In addition to his previous work with Protection 1, he led successful sales teams for AT&T, ADT and Tyco Integrated Security in the Oklahoma area.  While at Shred-It USA, he held the position of District Operations Supervisor where he gained operational and administrative experience managing Profit & Loss Statements and driving field efficiencies.

Mark Weidemann has been confirmed as Protection 1's new General Manager for the San Antonio and McAllen branches. Weidemann began his career as a security system technician more than 30 years ago while serving in the United States Air Force.  Over the years, he has held positions ranging from residential and commercial installer, sales representative and sales manager, to operations supervisor and district general manager.  Weidemann holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Science Technology, a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, and a Master’s degree in Business Administration and is NICET II certified.  He is an active member of the Electronic Security Association chapter and has served as the chapter President.
