Maryland vehicle service centres to offer travel screening enrollment

Annapolis, Md

The official opening of the Annapolis location

The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA) and Morphotrust USA have entered into a partnership to include Identogo centres at six MDOT MVA locations in Maryland.

The services offered by Identogo include: TSA Pre✓ enrollment, which allows U.S. citizens to enjoy expedited security screenings within U.S. airports, and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), which is required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation's maritime facilities and vessels.

"Offering our Maryland customers easy access to enroll in TWIC and TSA Precheck is part of our commitment to make services our customers want as convenient and accessible as possible." commented MDOT MVA Administrator Christine Nizer.

The official opening of the Annapolis location was held on August 9, and two other locations, Waldorf and Salisbury, also have Identogo locations open for customer enrollments. The other three offices that will include Identogo locations later this year include Frederick, Gaithersburg and Glen Burnie.

"We are excited to partner with the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration to bring important enrollment services to the residents of the state," said Bob Eckel, CEO of Morphotrust. "The convenience and service that MDOT MVA is offering to its customers by making TSA Pre✓ and TWIC available in their offices creates one-stop-shopping for Maryland residents and highlights the importance the MDOT MVA places on customer service."

Maryland's MVA joins the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in offering these services at traditional motor vehicle service centres.

TSA Pre✓ is an expedited security screening programme that connects travellers departing from more than 200 U.S. airports with smarter security and a more convenient travel experience.

The TWIC programme provides a tamper-resistant biometric credential to maritime workers requiring unescorted access to secure areas of port facilities, outer continental shelf facilities and vessels regulated under the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, or MTSA, and all U.S. Coast Guard credentialed merchant mariners.
