Intelligent video surveillance (IVS) designed for prisons

Hsinchu, Taiwan

Triple Domain Vision (TDV), specialised in the field of embedded video content analytics (VCA) for surveillance, has designed and produced a new VCA intelligent video server system dedicated toward the needs of prison faciilties.

As statistics have shown, fighting, camera tampering, smoking, and people gathering together in one area, are some of the most common behaviours and activities in prisons all over the world. The majority of prisons around the globe today have installed video surveillance cameras and systems, but few of them have deployed a video content analysis (VCA) function to verify these radical behaviours and conditions instead of relying simply on eyes. For these specific market requirements, TDV has recently launched its new Urach Intelligent Video Server, which has been developed specially for prison applications.

Thd Urack Intelligent Video Server has beeen designed in a universal control rack with 8 hot swappable slots. Each slot accommodates one video card module that supports 4 video inputs to perform 4ch video content analytics concurrently. This Urack also has a redundant ethernet ring.

The TDV Urack Video Server supports various video content analysis functions, such as camera tamper verification, fighting detection, object moving detection, object removed/abandoned verification, smoke and flame detection, crowd and gathering detection, people counting, and facial recognition. All these video analysis features aim to help prison guards and supervisors to run the facility at a higher efficiency level thereby better manage the facility.

The TDV Urack Intelligent Video Server provides video content analysis (VCA) to the compatible IP cameras. It supports a redundant ethernet ring in video transmission. According to the company, this brand-new solution has been tested for its over all system performance and has gained official approval by the Ministry of Justice, Taiwan. This confirmation has resulted in system installation at prisons within the territory, enabling the authorities to efficiently manage their facilities and ease the work load for prison officers.
