ICx Technology acquires PureTech Systems

Washington, DC (USA)

ICx Technologies, a developer of advanced sensor technologies for homeland security, force protection and commercial applications, has acquired Phoenix-based PureTech Systems, a firm specializing in video analysis technologies for wide area surveillance. The division will now be known as ICx Vision Systems.

ICx offers a strong line of products, such as thermal cameras, surveillance radars and access control devices, which help secure critical assets and reduce the vulnerability of individuals and buildings from intrusion threats. ICx intends to incorporate ICx Vision Systems products and technologies into existing product lines, as well as into current and future research and development projects, in order to provide customers a completely integrated solution.

"We are excited to be part of the growing ICx team," said Larry Bowe Jr., president of ICx Vision Systems. "We are already starting to leverage our products' technology with existing ICx products and systems to give our customers an even higher level of protection."

ICx Vision Systems' products include its PureActiv wide-area surveillance system, which combines a simple point-and-click camera control with alarm management and video analytics to create a user-friendly, map-based command and control system. It also brings its Scene Analyzer perimeter device to the ICX portfolio. This is a video-based solution that can transform "normal" security cameras into smart sensors, while still managing the installation challenges associated with limited bandwidth or harsh environmental conditions.

"ICx Vision Systems specializes in advanced video analytics technology and command and control features that use technologies based on Geographical Information Systems (GIS)," said Doug Knight, ICx senior vice president. "By integrating PureActiv with the ICx Cameleon VMS and Starwatch ACS/IDS systems, all developed using a .NET architecture, ICx has a state-of-the-art SMS and C2 platform that creates interoperability with ICx- and third-party sensors for CBRE and wide area surveillance."
