Colombian seaport upgrades to heavy duty camera housings
Valle del Cauca, Colombia
The Buenaventura Container Terminal is located near the Panama Canal, making it the closest port to the Far East. Over 200,000 cargo container units go through these ports each year. More is expected due to the Panama Canal expansion project.
The surveillance cameras needed to be protected against the elements. Their solution was to install the Messoa SAH725 camera housing on all their cameras. The SAH725 camera housing is a die-casting aluminum housing with a rating of IP67, which also protects the camera from the salt damage and strong rains common in coastal settings. The housing is very tolerant of temperature and humidity changes, functioning well in -40ºC–60ºC temperatures and 20–80% relative humidity, both of which are common in coastal environments.
In addition the sleek and stylish design of the camera housing matched the pleasing aesthetic qualities of the brand new seaport.
All the ports cameras were outfitted with the SAH725. Camera repairs and replacements have been almost eliminated. Port officials are happy that fewer resources are being used to take care of this problem.
