CEDIA cancels all March & April tech summits

Fishers, In

CEDIA has expressed concern for everyone impacted by the COVID-19 coronavirus, and after close monitoring of ongoing developments and recent reports from public health officials nationally and locally, CEDIA has decided to cancel its tech summits taking place in March and April in the US, and also the London event in the UK.

CEDIA is a leading global authority in the $19 billion home technology industry, represents around 3,700 member companies worldwide and serves more than 30,000 industry professionals that manufacture, design, and integrate goods and services for the connected home.

The events in the US that have been cancelled are those taking place at Woodland Hills, Ca on March 31, 2020; Irvine, Ca on April 2, 2020; Dallas, Tx on April 14, 2020; Houston, Tx on April 16, 2020.  In the UK the London event has been postponed in March and has been put back to September 4, 2020.

In a statement the organisation said: "The health and safety of our staff and anyone planning to attend our events is of the utmost importance to CEDIA. As such, we believe this is the most prudent action to take at this time. CEDIA is working with venues to reschedule the Texas and California events and will communicate new dates as they are confirmed.

CEDIA is closely monitoring and following the travel and safety advice and precautions recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) as well as by relevant government health agencies at a regional and local level.

As of today, the remaining 2020 Tech Summits will take place as scheduled. This situation is very fluid right now and should a cancellation or a reschedule need to occur, we will notify all relevant participants and attendees."
