Bosch wins product of the year with detector range

Ottobrunn, Germany

Bosch Security Systems' newly launched Professional Series dual-tech detector range, with superior multi-point anti-mask technology and innovative Sensor Data Fusion, has won Intruder Product of the Year at the prestigious IFSEC Security Industry Awards.
"Bosch leads the field within the security industry for its investment in research and development, and this has lead to the creation of the most sophisticated intruder detector in the market to date," says Paul Wong, managing director of Bosch Security Systems.

"This industry award recognises that we have successfully produced market leading intruder technology with exceptional reliability to reduce false alarms without compromising security, and within strict regulatory standards," he continues.

Multi-point anti-mask technology with integrated spray detection (MANTIS) utilises patented prism lenses and active infrared detection to protect against all known ways to obscure the view of the detector, regardless of texture or colour. It is sensitive to various materials including fabric, paper, metal, plastic, tape and sprays. When MANTIS identifies a masking material, a supervision anti-mask signal is sent to the control panel.

Bosch's Sensor Data Fusion (SDF) technology interactively processes data from up to five different sensors. It uses a sophisticated software algorithm to gather signals from multiple sensors: two pyroelectric, a microwave assist, room temperature, and white light level sensor. The microcontroller analyses and compares the sensor data to make the most intelligent alarm decisions in the security industry.

The new detectors also incorporate tri-focus optics to eliminate coverage gaps that respond efficiently to intruders. The detector applies three focal lengths to 86 detection zones, which combine to make 11 solid curtains of detection.

A sealed optic chamber provides immunity from drafts and insects, eliminates accidental damage, and improves the durability and reliability of the Professional Series detectors. A cover and wall tamper switch provide an additional level of protection from sabotage.

"The detectors' powerful combination of unique features delivers a 35 percent better catch performance than 'traditional' motion and allows us to virtually eliminate false alarms. Its integrated sensor technology means it makes the most intelligent alarm decisions," Paul continues.

"As with various other Bosch intrusion detectors, the new Professional Series can be easily integrated into Bosch's Local Security Network (LSN) bus system which is a freely configurable system offering a wide choice of intrusion, fire and malfunction detectors, operator units and aiming devices from multiple manufacturers. It also allows automatic component identification, address assignment support and functional security in the event of cable interruption or short circuit," he concludes.
