ASIS gets set with globally relevant education programme for Dallas

Alexandria, Va

ASIS International has unveiled a sample selection of the globally relevant education sessions and programmes that will be held at the 63rd ASIS International Annual Seminar and Exhibits (ASIS 2017), taking place 25-28 September in Dallas

Presented by subject matter experts from around the world, this event focuses on enhancing a shared global security perspective, promoting greater international collaboration and increasing peer-to-peer information sharing. ASIS 2017 builds off the successes of last year's event in Orlando, which was attended by representatives from over 109 countries.

"Threats against our communities cannot be handled in a vacuum. From Paris to Saint Petersburg, from Manchester to Marawi—the increasingly global nature of security risks is painfully evident. These myriad threats pose a shared risk to governments, citizens and security professionals in every country," said Godfried Hendriks, CPP, Managing Consultant, Going Consultancy BV and Secretary, ASIS International Board of Directors. "Now more than ever, security professionals need a peer network to turn to for support, best practices and information sharing to address these challenges. ASIS provides that community, both at ASIS 2017 and year-round through its reinvestment in the profession."

A new addition to the globally-focused content includes Detective Chief Superintendent Paul Barnard, City of London Police as part of the powerful Wednesday keynote lineup. Barnard will share his perspective on the current threat landscape and his experience from the recent attacks in London, as part of the "Global Responses to Global Threats" general session.

"Sharing information, enhancing collaboration and comprehensively understanding the nature of cross-disciplinary threats is vital for every security professional worldwide," said Thomas J. Langer, CPP, 2017 president of ASIS International. "The Wednesday panel will delve into recent terror attacks and how public and private sector collaboration is essential in combating the global terror threat."

A sample of "ripped from the headlines" education featured at ASIS 2017 will include - Lessons Learned From a Paris Armed Robbery; Security Risk Assessment After Charlie Hebdo and Security Risk in the European Migrant Crisis.

"At ASIS 2017 we provide the education and peer network security professionals need to step back onto the front lines, both in their communities and companies," notes Langer. "The diversity of countries, industries and perspectives represented ensures attendees will be armed with a wide selection of best practices, as well as valuable career connections from across the globe."

As a premier venue for debuting cutting-edge products, unveiling new initiatives and engaging with global market influencers, ASIS 2017 also offers attendees the opportunity to network and engage with a wide-range of exhibitors, featuring leading global brands such as Apple, Assa Abloy, Hanwha Techwin, Hitachi, Honeywell International, Panasonic and Toshiba America Consumer.
