Vicon introduces new IP camera series

Happauge, New York (USA)

Powered by ViconNet software, the I-Onyx series will initially consist of three models: the I-Onyx VN-855, a super-high-resolution model; the I-Onyx VN-855DN, a day/night version and the I-Onyx VN-855, a wide dynamic range (WDR) model. All three can deliver up to 30 fps of high-quality, 4 CIF [720 x 488 (864 x 586 PAL)] video across the network and may be powered by PoE or 24 VAC. The Power over Ethernet (PoE) feature eliminates the need for a separate power supply.

The I-Onyx series delivers sharp color images with a resolution of up to 540 TV lines (WDR model is 480 TV lines) and accurate color rendition. I-Onyx cameras use ViconNet MPEG-4 compression that optimizes file size and maximizes picture quality. This enables simultaneous transmission of multiple-channel video across the LAN and WAN to connected ViconNet Kollector elite recorders and ViconNet NVR workstations. Each camera can be remotely configured across the network using a ViconNet workstation or Kollector elite. In addition, the IP cameras support museum search, motion detection, alarm reporting, macros and alarm configuration through the ViconNet software interface. An analog composite output allows for local setup and serves as a redundant video source in case of network failure.

"The I-Onyx series of cameras represents the latest advances in IP camera design including the ability to use PoE. We are confident that these three cameras and the ones that follow will be a key component of current and future IP video system design" states Bret McGowan, vice president of US sales and marketing at Vicon.
