Upgraded series of wireless mesh routers

Boston, MA (USA)

Fluidmesh Networks releases the Fluidmesh 2200 Duo. It is a new, upgraded version of the Fluidmesh 2200 series of wireless mesh routers which operate on multiple frequencies. The Duo unveils some major new features and innovations and, effective September 15, 2008, will replace the original Fluidmesh 2200.

The Duo edition introduces some new hardware and software features; Integrators and end users alike will appreciate the advantages of a 3X faster main processor and increased switching and routing capabilities by multiple times.

The Fluidmesh 2200 Duo will come with an external LED to facilitate the troubleshooting of the system. In addition, the Duo will feature two auto-sensing Ethernet ports, eliminating the need for Ethernet cross-over cables. Cross-over or a patch cables work fine with the new Fluidmesh 2200 Duo.

Another feature of the Duo will be the support for 128 bit AES Encryption at the link-level which is now possible using a hardware-based encryption system that does not introduce any loss in terms of performance. To enable Hardware-based AES Encryption, a software plug-in is
required.

Together with the Fluidmesh 2200 Duo, Fluidmesh is releasing the new Easy Mesh firmware based on a new concept in the wireless industry - The new firmware is compatible with the existing Fluidmesh 2200 and will also serve as the default software for the new 2200 Duo hardware. It's represents a quantum leap in terms of ease of use compared to any competing wireless product and finally allows wireless mesh to go mainstream.

The EasyMesh firmware includes three main components: MeshSwitchTM, FMQuadroTM Web-based Interactive
User Interface, and SNMP V. 3 Support. The MeshSwitch Technology makes the entire network as easy to configure as a simple network switch. The new Layer 2 Addressing Mode allows each camera, encoder, Fluidmesh
unit and other networking devices to have an IP address belonging to the same class, therefore minimizing the time required for network planning. At the same time, the advanced users can still select the Layer 3 Addressing Mode in case they need to create a network with different subnets.

The FMQuadro new interactive routing interface can monitor the performance of the network both at the node and link level. Thanks to the FMQuadro Web-based interface, there's no need for external software or hardware to manage the network. From the "Mesh End" Fluidmesh Unit attached to the control room, the user can evaluate the performance of each wireless device and link in the field in real time. Troubleshooting is simplified, minimizing network setup time. The new FMQuadro Web-based user interface provides real time throughput analysis and is capable of automatically detecting network congestion scenarios. In addition, the new
interface comes with a build-in spectrum analyzer to help the user select the best frequency of
transmission both on the 2.4 and 5 Ghz range.

The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP V.3) can centrally manage the mesh devices with a SNMP server and receives automatic alarms in case of network failure. Via the SNMP Protocol, each Fluidmesh device in the field communicates all its operating parameters to the SNMP server that can be installed in the control room. The SNMP server can then inform the System Integrator and the End-user personnel in case of any network or wireless failure via email or SMS in real time. Because SNMP is a standard protocol supported by the majority of
networking products, the central SNMP server can manage and monitor at the same time Fluidmesh products and other third-party networking devices such as network switches, routers and IP-encoders or IP cameras.

"The features of the new Fluidmesh 2200 will facilitate higher quality installations for integrators and, ultimately, end users," says Torquato Bertani, Fluidmesh Networks CTO. "The FM 2200 Duo is easier to install and to use. The wider bandwidth and higher throughput allows bigger systems, with better video quality, to be built. In the past few months, Fluidmesh R&D efforts and objectives have been toward developing the wireless mesh product that is easiest to use in the wireless CCTV market. We are positive at this point that no competing solution can beat us in terms of ease of installation and configuration. Saving time for system integrators who do not need any expensive and time-consuming training means creating more value for the entire value chain, right up to the end-user."
