Products from Telindus Surveillance Solutions Ltd (TSS) have been selected by Alkan Telecom (Alkan) for use by the Police and security services within the city of Cairo. Alkan is a major independent solution and services provider, and a regional systems integrator, recently awarded a major civil defence network implementation contract in the Middle East. Using the TSS products Alkan will be able to provide remote video from across the city of Cairo to a centralised control room for viewing and recording using a wireless network.

When we were introduced to the new TSS surveillance product portfolio we could easily see how they could be deployed within the city of Cairo," says Alaa Adel Khalil, Business Development Director, Alkan Telecom. "TSS can provide us with the high quality MPEG-4 codec suitable for wireless transmission; the software management and the network based recording solution that we require."

Alkan Telecom has begun rolling out wireless equipment in urban centres throughout Cairo, enabling police and security agencies to transmit time and security-sensitive surveillance video, GIS and vehicle tracking broadband applications to and from their vehicles. Alkan expects to replicate this project in markets throughout Egypt.
