Tagmaster to supply RFID systems to Chinese railway

Stockholm, Sweden

TagMaster recently got a volume order of RFID equipment for automatic power switching on locomotives in PR China. The successful pilot installation in the Guangdong province this year has now resulted in a decision from the Chinese Railway Bureau to install the TagMaster RFID equipment on the mainline between Hong Kong and Beijing. This means that the project now has reached the national level in PR China and is no longer a local project in the Guangdong province.

The equipment will be installed on locomotives operating on the 2,000 km long railway line. The order value is approximately 15 MSEK and deliveries shall be completed by the second quarter in 2009.

"TagMaster and our partners in PR China have been working on this project for a couple of years and this is the ultimate confirmation of the strength of TagMaster and our products. When we received the pilot order for 100 systems in November 2006 we realized that it was a breakthrough. The Chinese Railway Bureau has now made the decision to equip one of PRC's main railway lines and I think that this confirms that the project has moved forward to a substantially higher level. This order paves the way for the entire railway network in PRC. Discussions regarding a vast extension of the system are in progress since a couple of months," says Anders Holmlund, CEO TagMaster AB.

The TagMaster RFID system is a central part in the automatic power switching system for locomotives. The system ensures that the locomotive automatically switches between different feeder stations in each sector of the track, allowing the driver to focus on driving the train in a more relaxed and secure manner.
