Secprotec prepares for action in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya

German trade show organiser, Planetfair of Hamburg are preparing for action at the second "Secprotec East Africa" trade fair, which will be held from 20th - 22nd August 2014 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre - Nairobi, Kenya.
In furtherance of the spirit of cooperation in East Africa, member States of the East African Community (EAC) signed a Protocol on peace and security with the main objective of promoting peace, security and stability within the community and good neighbourliness among the partner States in February 2013. Member States also agreed to establish an early warning mechanism to facilitate the anticipation, preparedness and early responses to prevent, contain and manage conflict and crisis situations in the area of cooperation. This signed Protocol further cements the existing cooperation framework.

According to the organisers, Nairobi is the hub for international organisations. Important clients of security technology are private firefighting companies including civil protection. Another important business is the protection of cash in transit whose demand has increased in the past. A further potential topic within East and Central Africa is electronic locating of vehicles.

Kenya consists of only about 2,000 registered security oriented companies and projects like “The New Terminal of Nairobi Airport, Mining, Wind Parks and various Major Constructions" wait in the wings and turn their main focus of attention to high professional security technology.

Mrs. Jessica Conway, of Autoclear, United States commented on the quality of the inaugural show.  "We were really pleased with Secprotec. It was a strong first show with many quality visitors; there was much interest in our products and buzz at our stand. Nairobi is an important emerging market as security is becoming more and more of a priority in Kenya, and the developing industry is seeking out new product solutions."

The show will play host to 60 participating companies from 15 nations, and exhibitors will take part from America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.  Up to 5000 visitors are expected from governments, institutions, organisations and private enterprises within the civil security from the Eastern African countries, 85 expected exhibitors.
