The current cycle of events investigates concepts of integration for safety and security related aspects of high occupancy buildings with a view to strategy planning, material, system requirements.
The conference brings leading Fire Safety Consultants, Architects, Engineers and Testing Experts together with Safety System Suppliers to give updates on industry standards and provide a debating platform for best practice. The conference provides its participants with insights to engineering faults in the Jazan Hospital fire tragedy. On the 24th of December, 2015 Saudi Ministry of Health lost 25 patients in the Jazan Hospital fire. In his presentation, engineer Alzaid will share the investigation findings and focus on the engineering failures that caused such high fatalities. His presentation is supported by video coverage, photos and drawings of the incident. The main purpose of the presentation is to avoid such horrific tragedies from re-happening.
Other issues will be presented by expert speakers on topics such as, developing safety design strategies for buildings, designing fire and life safety for airports, integrating safety and security concepts into high occupancy buildings. A guidance to facade fire safety audits will also be on the agenda. "For several years now we have been raising awareness about the dangers of combustible panels on facades, and recommending a course of action to prioritise, review and risk assess the existing building stock." Now that this is becoming a reality, Andy Dean, Head of Façade Engineering, WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff, provides guidance on a recommended focus and guidance on what to do and what to look for.
Following registration, breakfast and a welcome speech, the day will be split into two main sessions, divided by a coffee break around midday and with sessions finishing mid afternoon where participants will have the opportunity to meet for a networking lunch.
