MIPS Moscow, Russia a truly international event

According to ITE the organisers of the MIPS show in Moscow, the Russian market holds huge potential for suppliers of security equipment. It has developed steadily at a rate of 6.5 to7% over the last few years and now provides a clearer profile of suppliers and channels to market, making it more attractive to foreign investors in particular. Promotion at trade events is increasingly popular and the Moscow International Protection & Security Show, or MIPS, has become the number one show for international companies to demonstrate their products and services, and meet valuable contacts in the market.

MIPS is the largest annual security exhibition in Eastern Europe with a significant international profile. In 2006, the event hosted 323 exhibitors, of whom 99 were from 24 countries outside Russia. In total, the exhibition covered 6,280 square metres net (12,000 gross).
The next event is set to expand further in 2007 and will be held on 24-27 April 2007 at Olympisky Sport Complex, Moscow. Mr. Ilya Sobolev, director of the event, says, "We have already sold 92% of the exhibition space and have extended the area by another 700 square metres on top of the 12,000 occupied by this year's MIPS at the Olympisky fair ground".
The larger exhibition is sure to attract more visitors too, beating the attendance of over 20,000 last year. According to independent exhibitor research carried out on behalf of ITE, 78% of the exhibitors stated that the number of visitors met or exceeded their expectations.
MIPS attracts Russian governmental officials and representatives who come to meet leading international specialists and view the latest technology and standards in the international security market.
Alongside the exhibition, there are a number of seminars, panel debates, technological presentations and the 'Best Innovative Product' competition, which awards the latest technology within the industry.
The MIPS Conference, entitled 'Integrated Safety Systems: The latest Technologies' takes place every year at the Renaissance Hotel, adjacent to the exhibition. The conference aims to discover new directions for the security industry and promote cooperation between scientific, industrial, commercial and governmental institutions in order to develop effective security solutions and prevent terrorism.
The event welcomes exhibitors from all over the world, some with large national group stands. In 2006, Italy dominated the foreign participation with 20 companies. Korea and Taiwan were also a major presence at the exhibition with 14 companies each, followed by Great Britain with eight companies, China and Germany with seven exhibitors each, Ukraine, with six and Lithuania and Finland with three companies each.
Other countries represented were Austria, Malaysia, USA, Spain, France, Latvia, Sweden, Turkey, Ireland, Netherlands, Slovenia, Moldavia, Hungary, Hong Kong and UAE.
