Jordan's chief military officer to attend UAE defence summit

Kent, UK

It has been confirmed that a high level delegation from the Jordanian armed forces will attend the UAE Advanced Defence & Security Technology in Dubai next month.

The summit, which is held under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Defence and takes place on 27-28 April 2009, will welcome a delegation led by General Khalid Al-Sarayreh, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who are attending with the express intention of meeting with fellow defence policy makers and global operators.

As a leading power in the region and a strong ally of the international community, Jordan has a key role to play in issues of regional security, with their attendance welcomed as further indication of the need to engagement throughout the world on issues of Gulf security, including maritime security, critical infrastructure protection, border control and the development of advanced military systems to achieve these core objectives.

General Al-Sarayreh and his delegation join a prestigious summit line-up that includes high level participation from leading Gulf and global powers such as Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, China, France, India, the US and the UK, as well as an unrivalled level of representation from the UAE Armed Forces. These delegations will include representation at the highest level, including ministers, chiefs of staff, military commanders and director generals, all of whom will be attending to address the leading issues outlined above.

The summit utilises a unique format that combines keynote plenary addresses and panel sessions with the opportunity for engaging in bilateral meetings with fellow defence and security policy makers and leading technology and solution providers from the global business community.
