Jordan eGATE launched

Jordan

With support from King Abdullah, the Jordan civil aviation authority signed off the agreement to launch the Jordan eGATE.

The project is supported by the ministry of interior, ministry of transport, GID and the PSD in Jordan and is executed by DATEL as a turnkey project, according to www.ameinfo.com.

Queen Alia International Airport Amman is expected to be the first airport in Jordan use the eGATE. The gates have already been installed but are undergoing a test procedure before launch.

The eGate's primary function is to speed up the passenger processing with the help of electronic screening. The e-Card displays the passenger's data and a fingerprint reader confirms the identity of the passenger, then access is granted.

Capt Suleiman Abeidat, general director for Jordan civil aviation authority says "We see this project as adding immense value to our passenger travel. With arrivals and departures terminals going live with electronic gate, we see Jordan joining world leaders in safe and secure passenger travel across the region to make the world a safer place"

Prkash Ivaturi, vice president of Datel, fills in "Datel is proud to be associated with the launch of the Jordan eGATE at Queen Alia International Airport, this project adds credibility to proving that safe and secure travel is possible with the use of advanced technology and biometrics in the right manner . This process and the projects of such kind add real world value to the govt authorities, passengers & airlines"
