IHSE new high-res video extenders for dual-head and dual link applications

Oberteuringen, Germany

IHSE GmbH has released the company's new Draco vario extenders to extend DVI dual link video signals and transmit two DVI signals to two monitors via one data cable.
Using KVM extenders, computers can be separated from their associated input and output devices by up to 10 kilometers. Signal transmission over Cat X and fibre connections is achieved with no inherent delay or loss of quality - even at the highest video resolutions.

The new Draco vario dual-head enables the connection of two DVI monitors (at maximum 1920 x 1200 pixels for each monitor). To extend signals only one single Cat X or fiber cable link is needed, saving the expense of a second extender and reducing cabling costs and installation effort. When used in conjunction with KVM matrix systems, the Draco vario dual-head extender is designed to save valuable matrix ports.

Its sister product, Draco vario dual link, enables the transmission of DVI signals to one single monitor up to a resolution of 2560 x 2048 pixels. Extension of signals requires a single data cable. Both extenders offer additional USB ports for connection of keyboard, mouse or graphics tablet.

The extenders are compatible with regular single-head/single extenders: consoles can access single-head/single link CPU units instantaneously. This is crucial for use with monitors that are limited to a small set of dual link inputs, for example Apple Cinema monitors. In this situation, signals from single-head/single link sources are embedded within the dual link signal format and can be switched with no discernible switching delay. Single-head/single link images are displayed at their own native resolution within a blanked area on-screen.

Both products can be installed in all types of Draco vario chassis and are compatible with all upgrade modules of the Draco extender family.
