IFSEC to be held 11-14 May

Following IFSEC's 35th anniversary in 2008 which attracted 30,257 attendees from 125 countries, the world's largest annual security event returns in 2009 to the NEC Birmingham from 11 - 14 May. The internationally renowned exhibition provides security installers, manufacturers, distributors, IT integrators, end-users and consultants with a platform to keep up to date with the ever-changing developments of the global security industry.

In today's economic climate, companies' budgets and spend are being increasingly monitored. For this reason, IFSEC 2009's features and content have been adapted to meet the evolving demands of security professionals. More than 600 market leading companies have already confirmed their presence at this year's event including household names such as ASSA Abloy, Axis Communication, Bosch, Cisco, Dallmeier, HID, IndigoVision, JVC, LG Electronics, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Paxton Access, Samsung Techwin, Samsung Opto-Electronics U.K. (SOUK) Ltd, Sanyo, Sony, Xtralis and many more. As the annual meeting place for security professionals worldwide, there will also be vast networking opportunities for those that attend.

IFSEC 2009 will once again contain a high-level three-day conference programme covering the most cutting-edge issues for the security industry today. Designed to help security professionals maintain control in today's ever-changing world, visitors will be invited to use the event's "pick and mix" agenda to ensure they have the opportunity to address all their key security challenges.

Each day of the 2009 conference, entitled "Maximising protection in uncertain times", will be dedicated to a specific area of security and chaired by an industry leading figure. Day 1 will look at Global, National and Local Protection focusing on three modules - Global Terror, Critical National Infrastructure and Crisis Management. The sessions will delve into key issues in these three fields including maintaining business resilience and continuity, the latest security intelligence and security strategies and planning procedures of Critical National Infrastructure. Many top level speakers will be presenting throughout the day including DCI Chris Phillips, Head of National Counter Terrorism Security Office; Commander Sue Akers, Head of Organised Crime and Criminal Networks at the Specialist Crime Directorate; Stephen Cooper, Head of Security at the Olympic Delivery Authority and Norman Russell, Director of Russell Security Consultants. The day will be chaired by David Kidd, regional security manager at the US Embassy.

Samsung Techwin's professional security division will be introducing a host of new products at IFSEC 2009. Two of the new CCTV products in particular are certain to attract the attention of security managers responsible for Government buildings. One such product which will be unveiled at the event is the SPD-3750T which has incorporated the world's first 37 x optical zoom lens. This ground breaking piece of technology is packed full of features and functions such as Intelligent Auto Tracking and incorporates SSNRII, second generation Samsung Super Noise Reduction technology making images cleaner and sharper whilst eliminating high levels of noise.

Day 2 of the conference programme will concentrate on Corporate Security Management and will look at issues such as the threats of e-crime and online fraud, security managers overcoming increasing financial restrictions to maintain a secure environment and the dynamics of employee security. Speakers include Steve Fowler, Chief Executive of The Institute of Risk Management; Chris Brogan, Managing Director of Security International Ltd; Dan Hooton, Group Head of Security at Prudential PLC and William Beer, Information Security Head at PricewaterhouseCoopers. This day will be overseen by Bill Wylie, Past Chairman of the Security Institute.

Finally, day 3 will explore Technological Innovations in Practice and will concentrate on various issues including the advantages of interoperability of security systems, the pitfalls and challenges associated with IP implementation and the future of security systems. John Convy, Technology Alliance Manager of Cisco Physical Security; Emma Shaw, Co-Director of The Security Institute and Kevin Franklin, Director of the Border Transformation Group at the Home Office are amongst the speakers. Alex Carmichael, Technical and Membership Services Director of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), will be chairing the final day.

The educational programme has been a hugely popular feature of IFSEC for many years. The programme has been further expanded for 2009 to provide the most comprehensive educational content ever to be featured at a security event. Visitors will have the opportunity to attend over 100 hours and 150 individual complimentary seminars to learn about the latest issues facing the industry and receive best practice advice from industry luminaries. New to 2009, Business Seminars for Security Installers - Managing your business in a downturn is a new seminar programme dedicated specifically to installers. These sessions will focus on various issues including maximising emerging opportunities, developing robust business plans, winning new contracts, selling security in a downturn to a variety of vertical markets, expanding your business abroad, bringing projects in on budget and many more.

Once again visitors to IFSEC 2009 will be able to explore the latest security products and services available both in the UK and worldwide. The exhibition will be organised into the following categories: IP Networks and Integrated Systems, Access Control, CCTV, Intruder Alarms, Counter Terror and Physical Security and Security Solutions.

In addition, the popular New Product & Technology Showcases returns to this year's event. With demand for the latest products and technology at an all time high, industry renowned names will deliver informative educational sessions looking at their latest developments. Axis Communications, Dedicated Micros, IndigoVision and HIK Vision are just some of the names who will presenting their newest innovations.

Finally, a delegation of international security buyers will be present at the event. Organised by the British Security Industry Association, Fire Industry Association, The Association of Police & Public Security Suppliers, event organisers UBM Live and supported by UK Trade and Investment, a "Meet the Buyers" event, which will be opened by Prince Michael of Kent, will take place on Monday 11 May. This event will allow UK exhibitors to "speed network" with key buyers and decision makers from Argentina, Canada, Egypt, India, Italy, Lebanon, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa and Vietnam. This will give UK exhibitors a unique opportunity to explore international business markets from the comfort of IFSEC.
