Hiqview to launch combo web smart switch

Taipei, Taiwan

Hiqview's newly-developed PSWS24F-A02C-250W is a 24-Port 10/100Mbps PoE + 2-port Gigabit TP/SEP combo web smart switch which offers advanced switching controls and provides power to network devices using Ethernet cables. It is compatible with IEEE802.3af/at, and it can power both existing 10/100Base-T network devices and wireless IEEE 802.11n access points.

The PSWS24F-A02C-250W features speedy wiring high performance as it is equpped with 24 10/100Mbps fast Ethernet ports and 2 Gigabit TP/SFP combo ports. The two Gigabit TP/SFP combo ports can be either 1000Base-T for 10/100/1000Mbps or 1000Base-SX/LX through SFP (small factor pluggable) interface. The switch boasts a high efficiency architecture that is capable of providing non-blocking switch fabric and wire-speed throughput as high as 8.8Gbps. Its two built-in Gigabit TP/SFP combo uplink ports also offer effective extension, flexibility and connectivity to the core switch or servers.

The PSWS24F-A02C-250W offers PoE power control, auto check, PoE power delay and PoE scheduling on each PoE port. As it has a web smart function, it is easy to monitor and control the PoE power provision to the devices via the web interface; these professional functions include PoE power switching, PoE scheduling, PoE monitoring, VLAN, QoS (quality of service), RTSP (real time streaming protocol), etc.

The PoE power switching performs through the graphical user interface to allow users to remotely turn off or on the PoE power to each camera. This function allows a camera to be rebooted when needed. The administrator or user can manually control the PoE switch at anytime and anywhere. They no longer need to be at the camera site, or where the PoE switch is. This function is convenient for users in terms of time and cost savings.

The PoE scheduling is an option which allows users to set a time window to programme the camera as power On or Off respectively. It is a useful feature and helps users to set a schedule for the system or for a camera to shut down during certain times of the day, or to schedule an IP camera automatically to reboot on a periodic basis with no manual intervention.

The PoE monitoring provides monitoring of the power consumption information in real time. The power consumption information includes actual PoE power utilisation per port, total system PoE power budget, amount of total PoE power currently being used, and the amount of total PoE power still available.

VLAN is a way to create multiple virtual switches from the inside of one physical switch. For instance, ports configured to use VLAN 3 act as if they are connected to the exact same switch. Thus, ports in VLAN 7 cannot directly talk to ports in VLAN 3. Under this situation, VLAN 3 and VLAN 7 must be routed between 2 VLANs or they must have a link to bridge the two VLANs).

QoS (quality of service) is an idea which means transmission rates, error rates, and other characteristics can be measured, improved to some extent, and guaranteed in advance through the Internet and in other networks. QoS particularly pays attention to the continuous transmission of high-bandwidth video and multimedia information.

And, according to the bandwidth available between client and server, RTSP (real time streaming protocol) takes advantage of streaming which breaks data down into many individual packets. When enough packets have been received by the client, the user's software can be playing one packet, decompressing another and downloading a third.

The Professional PoE switch offers web smart network management to meet the accelerating demand for secure manageable networks. LED displays show device status for easy power management and troubleshooting. PoE technology conveniently eliminates the need to install networked devices, such as IP cameras and access points, near a power outlet, thereby reducing equipment and installation costs.
